Overview

Kevin Hulick is an Ohio Trial Lawyer passionate about helping clients protect their rights and interests in high stakes matters. With experience in administrative, government, employment, criminal, banking law, and high-profile litigation, among other practice areas, Kevin leverages his insight to deliver personalized and tenacious advocacy in pursuit of the best possible outcomes for our clients. Kevin is admitted to practice in Ohio, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Since joining the firm, Kevin has been particularly active in the class action and civil rights practice areas. In class action litigation, Kevin has represented classes in numerous cases and achieved multiple successful class action settlements. He has the rare distinction of actually having participated in a class action trial. In the civil rights space, Kevin has achieved multiple successful settlements for the use of excessive for and successfully argued an appeal before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in a use of deadly force case.

Kevin has significant experience taking depositions, including deposing company executive officers, police chiefs, and numerous Rule 30(B)(6) depositions.

Kevin’s top skill may be his legal writing. He has drafted many motions for class certification and principal briefs on appeal. In addition, Keven has authored numerous motions successfully opposing summary judgment in qualified immunity civil rights cases and successfully opposed motions to compel arbitration.Following law school, Kevin honed his craft and skills as an assistant attorney general working with the Ohio Attorney General’s office in Columbus, as an associate attorney with a commercial litigation firm, where he drafted motions and represented a liquidating trust in suing numerous banks for breaching representations and warranties in the sale of mortgage loans, and as a Law Clerk to the Hon. Benita Y. Pearson in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio.

  • A $3.97 million jury verdict for Medical Malpractice for permanent injuries sustained during a typically routine biopsy procedure.
  • An $8 million settlement in a premises liability and professional negligence case involving a catastrophic leg injury that occurred when a car struck concrete bollard in the Flats East Bank, causing the bollard to shatter and strike the injured party.
  • Numerous settlements for the victims of the use of excessive force by law enforcement officers.
  • Successfully argued an appeal before the United States Sixth Circuit in a case involving the deadly shooting of a motorist slowing to a stop. The case later settled for the insurance policy limits of $2 million with a commitment to retraining.
  • Six-figure settlement against a gas station convenience store for causing the shooting death of a bystander at the gas station. The gas station attempted to apportion fault against the non-party shooter.
  • A six-figure settlement in a Dram Shop Act case.
  • Multiple class action settlements for improper withholding of sales tax to insureds who suffered total vehicle losses
