Bill to Allow Stun Guns and Pepper Spray in Schools is Defeated

I
blogged
last week about a bill wending its way through the Virginia legislature.
The bill would allow security officers to carry dangerous weapons—stun
guns, pepper spray, and batons—on school campuses. I thought the
bill unwise, since it risked magnifying, rather than minimizing, violence
in schools. Apparently, the Senate Committee on Education and Health agreed
because it “failed to report” the bill to the full Senate.
If I am correct, this means the bill has been defeated.
