Christine D. Spagnoli

Ms. Spagnoli is a partner of Greene, Broillet & Wheeler in Santa Monica, specializing in representing plaintiffs in product liability, personal injury and legal malpractice actions. She has obtained many multimillion-dollar verdicts, including the 1999 General Motors case in which a defective fuel tank was found responsible for the burn injuries of two adults and four children. The jury returned with a landmark $4.9 billion verdict. She was co-counsel in the largest personal injury verdict in California, which resulted in a $58 million verdict for a man severely burned by a defective O-ring. In 2017 Chris was honored by the American Association of Justice with its prestigious Harry M. Philo Award which recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the civil justice system and whose work has advanced the safety and protection of American consumers. In May 2017, Consumer Watchdog, a non-profit consumer advocacy group, bestowed on Chris its Rage for Justice Lifetime Legal Achievement Award. On June 7, 2018 the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles inducted Chris into its Hall of Fame, honoring CAALA members with distinguished legal careers who have made significant contributions to the legal profession and society. In 2018 Chris was named as one of California’s Top 30 Plaintiff attorneys by the Daily Journal, which also has ranked her as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Attorneys in California and one of the Top 50 Women Litigators since 2004. She has also been named a “Super Lawyer” in the Southern California Super Lawyers peer-nominated listings compiled and published by Law & Politics, and one of the Best Lawyers in America by Woodward/White, Inc., based on a survey of her peers.

Jeremy A. Tor

Mr. Tor joined the Spangenberg firm as an associate in 2014 after working in the litigation department of a large international law firm in Manhattan, where he represented national and multinational companies in contract, product liability, insurance, and employment disputes. Prior to his time in New York, Jeremy served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Dan Aaron Polster (N.D. Ohio), drafting judicial opinions on a wide variety of issues, both civil and criminal. Jeremy received his law degree in 2011 from the University of Virginia. Before law school, Jeremy was a Teach For America corps member in Baltimore, where he taught Spanish to high school students at a public school in west Baltimore and earned a Master’s in teaching from Johns Hopkins University. Jeremy received his B.A. from the University of Arizona, with Honors, summa cum laude.

Dustin B. Herman

Mr. Herman joined The Spangenberg Law Firm as an associate in 2015. Prior to joining the Spangenberg Team, Dustin was an attorney with Romano Law Group in West Palm Beach, Florida, where his practice focused on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation as well as catastrophic injury cases. Dustin has handled complex product liability cases in both federal and state courts and is experienced in handling mass tort cases that have been consolidated into multidistrict litigation (or an “MDL”). Dustin is the author of numerous publications, including a chapter in the 4th Edition of AAJ’s “Anatomy of a Personal Injury Lawsuit,” which was released in March 2015 by Trial Guides and AAJ. In 2013, Dustin was named as one of south FL’s “Most Effective Lawyers” by the Daily Business Review; in 2014, he was selected as one of the National Trial Lawyers Association’s “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” (for the south FL area); and in June 2015, Dustin was named as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.

William Hawal

Mr. Hawal, a partner since 1988, began his legal career at Spangenberg Shibley & Liber in 1980. He has been consistently recognized as being among The Best Lawyers in America® in the Medical Malpractice Law practice area. Best Lawyers named Bill its 2015 Lawyer of the Year for medical malpractice for the northeast Ohio area. Bill has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers. He is a past President of Ohio ABOTA. Bill is involved in litigating a wide variety of complex matters involving medical misdiagnoses, medical procedures, defective medical devices and drugs, civil rights, legal malpractice, and injuries due to defective industrial and consumer products. Bill has extensive experience in handling birth injury cases, emphasizing mainly on babies born with cerebral palsy due to oxygen deprivation around the time of delivery and has successfully tried and settled numerous cases on behalf of families with severely disabled children.

Dennis R. Lansdowne

Mr. Lansdowne has been a partner at the firm since 1990. He joined Spangenberg Shibley & Liber as an associate from Jones Day Reavis & Pogue. Prior to Jones Day, Dennis was a law clerk in the Northern District of Ohio and Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals for the Honorable Robert B. Krupansky. He concentrates his practice on medical negligence, nursing home liability, catastrophic injuries, insurance coverage, and unique commercial litigation. Dennis has been consistently recognized in “The Best Lawyers in America” in both medical malpractice and personal injury. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Dennis is frequently asked to present on various aspects of the trial process by lawyers, judges, and law professors.

Kevin C. Hulick

Mr. Hulick joined the firm as an associate in 2018 after clerking for the Honorable Benita Y. Pearson (N.D. Ohio). Prior to clerking for Judge Pearson, Kevin worked as an associate at a litigation boutique in Columbus, Ohio, where he focused on corporate business disputes. Kevin began his career at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. As an assistant attorney general, Kevin represented state agencies and officers in election-related litigation and employment disputes. Kevin graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2015 and Youngstown State University in 2012. Kevin’s practice at Spangenberg focuses on consumer class action disputes and civil rights cases.

Deborah A. Coleman

Ms. Coleman began her legal career with Hahn Loeser & Parks after graduating from Harvard Law School in 1976. Deborah was the first woman partner of the firm as well as its Ethics Partner. After 37 years at Hahn Loeser & Parks, Deborah began her own firm, Coleman Law LLC, where she concentrates her practice as a mediator and arbitrator. She also provides professional ethics counsel and representation to lawyers. Deborah is a Fellow in the College of Commercial Arbitrators, and has been recognized as The Best Lawyers in America® , Alternative Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, 2008-17; “Lawyer of the Year– Arbitration”, 2014; Ohio Super Lawyers® , Alternative Dispute Resolution, 2004-17, and was awarded the John C. & Virginia Elam Award for Pro Bono Work, Ohio State Bar Association, 2013.

Stuart E. Scott

Mr. Scott, a partner since 2005, has been a lawyer with Spangenberg since graduating from Ohio State Law School in 1995. Stuart represents individuals and families who have been catastrophically injured or killed as a result of negligence, medical malpractice, dangerous products or defective drugs. Since becoming partner, Stuart has expanded his practice into Consumer Rights cases. Stuart received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his B.S. in Business and Finance from Ball State University.

Nicholas A. DiCello

Mr. DiCello, a partner since 2011, joined Spangenberg Shibley & Liber LLP in 2004 after serving as a law clerk for the late Honorable John M. Manos, Senior Judge for the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Nick was afforded this opportunity after graduating magna cum laude from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 2002. He joined the Judge John M. Manos Inn of Court in 2012. Super Lawyers has consistently recognized Nick as a top-rated personal injury lawyer and he is now also noted by Best Lawyers as a top-rated Civil Rights lawyer in Cleveland. Nick has successfully tried to verdict many cases, including civil rights, medical malpractice, and professional malpractice cases.
