Peter Brodhead joined the firm in 1980 and has been a partner since 1988. He is a certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers. He served as President of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers for the 2003-2004 term. He is also active in the John M. Manos Inns of Court, where he is a Master Bencher. Peter has been consistently named one of Ohio's "Super Lawyers" by the publishers of Law & Politics, and has been listed among the top 100 Ohio and the top 50 Cleveland "Super Lawyers." The magazine Inside Business recently named him one of northeast Ohio's "Leading Lawyers." Peter also has been selected by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in America for 2008.

Peter has acted as counsel in several broad-based litigation matters, many of which were national in scope. Among these were the Copley Pharmaceutical, Inc. "Albuterol" Products Liability Litigation in which he served as trial counsel, and the Sulzer Hip Prosthesis and Knee Prosthesis Product Liability Litigation where he was one of the class counsel. He has also litigated suits involving asbestos, welding fume, and other industrial exposures, and medical device cases such as pacemakers, defibrillators, and breast implants. Presently, he is taking a leading role in the MRI gadolinium contrast litigation on behalf of clients afflicted with nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) both in state and federal courts. This activity includes extensive participation in the Gadolinium Contrast Dyes Product Liability Multi-District Litigation (MDL No. 1909) that has been formed to address these cases.

In addition to unsafe pharmaceutical, medical device and other product liability cases, Peter handles a variety of complex matters involving toxic torts arising from hazardous chemicals, civil rights, general negligence, insurance coverage, commercial litigation, and patent infringement cases.

A 1979 graduate of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Peter served a judicial clerkship before coming to the firm. He has been actively involved with the Ohio Association for Justice, having served for several years on its Board of Trustees as well as on the Editorial Board of Ohio Trial magazine for which he has authored articles.
