John D. Liber, Esq.
Congratulations! John Liber selected by his peers...
He was voted among The Best Lawyers in America® in the Alternative Dispute Resolution practice area for 2009. This listing has been called the most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession. For more than 25 years, it has assisted lawyers and clients looking for legal counsel in unfamiliar specialties and in foreign jurisdictions.
John Liber is "of Counsel" to the law firm of Spangenberg, Shibley & Liber LLP, concentrating his professional time in private mediation and arbitration matters. Jack spent 38 years in an active litigation practice, specializing in automotive products liability, construction and railroad crossing disputes. Prior to that, Jack spent 10 years representing the basic steel industry, insurance companies and railroads.
Since voluntarily stepping down as Managing Partner in January 2001, Jack has confined his professional efforts to private mediation and arbitration. He has successfully mediated numerous commercial and product liability disputes pending in both State and Federal Courts. The International Court of Arbitration in Paris, France, has selected him as an Arbitrator. Those cases, initially filed in the U.S. District Courts, involved compulsory arbitration clauses in commercial contracts between U.S. and foreign corporations. The subject matter of these resolved disputes included the U.S. Army Abrams tank for use abroad, the Ford Explorers, tug boats, high speed diesel engines, fuel containers and fuel systems. Other subjects in dispute included commercial trade secrets.
Jack is a Past President of the Cleveland Bar Association, the Cleveland Bar Foundation, the Ohio Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, having served two consecutive terms as Ohio State Chairman. He is a Fellow and Past President of the International Society of Barristers, an honorary legal organization. He is a former member of the International Association of Insurance Counsel and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
Jack has been honored by his peers and professional colleagues by his selection in every issue of Best Lawyers in America since 1989, as well as being named in Ohio Super Lawyer both as a trial lawyer and a mediator. In June, 1985, Jack was one of a select group of trial lawyers named in a nationwide survey by Town and Country magazine as the "Best Lawyers in the United States". He was also featured in the October 1991 issue of Ohio Law Reporter as one of "Ohio's Winningest Trial Lawyers".
