In one of our cases, an officer shot an unarmed 19-year-old man during what should have been a routine traffic stop. At trial, the jury concluded that the officer was not justified in shooting him. The man was ultimately awarded more than $300,000. In another recent case, SS&L negotiated a favorable settlement on behalf of the family members of a 23-year-old man who was shot to death in the back as he attempted to flee in his automobile. During the case, SS&L lawyers Peter Brodhead and Nick DiCello successfully overturned an unfavorable ruling on appeal.
