• $2.7 million verdict in federal court for the wrongful death and personal injuries in a trucking accident.

• $2.7 million settlement for wrongful death caused by defectively designed 55 gallon pump.

• $2.6 million settlement against a West Virginia County Sheriff’s Department and Deputy for wrongfully shooting criminal suspect in the back rendering him a permanent quadriplegic

• $2.35 million settlement for products liability suit against auto manufacturer arising from severe brain injury suffered in single car crash caused by defective steering system.

As an Alumnus of The Case Western Reserve Law School, Peter H. Weinberger is Committed to Furthering the University's Many Worthy Causes

Peter is chairman of the Skin Cancer Research Institute Advisory Council at Case Western Reserve University. The mission of this institute is to discover causes of cancer, prevent skin cancers and develop new therapies. It is one of the top centers of excellence worldwide in skin cancer research. He funded a research fellowship for the Institute.

He also is an advisory member of the Law Medicine Institute of CWRU Law School. The challenges that will face the medical and health law professions in the coming decades are enormous and the Law-Medicine Center at Case School of Law is uniquely poised to prepare its students to address these challenges. The Law-Medicine Center is the oldest law school-based center for the study of legal medicine and health law in the United States.

Cleveland Lawyers on the Run!

Spangenberg joins the sponsors of the 9th Annual Halloween Bench-Bar Run for Justice. Dennis R. Lansdowne from the Law Firm took on the challenge, braving the elements and the distance this year.

Planned in partnership with Hermes Sports & Events Cleveland, the run offered 5 mile, 5K and one mile distances and is paired with a morning of fun and family activities. All proceeds from event registrations and sponsorships will benefit the CMBF, which funds the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) pro bono and public service programs, including the 3Rs program. The 3Rs - Rights ¤ Responsibilities ¤ Realities - is an unprecedented, award-winning program that puts nearly 500 volunteers from the Cleveland legal community into 10th grade social studies classes in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and East Cleveland City Schools.

Helping the Cleveland Foodbank

City of Parma Andrew Boyko Memorial Scholarship Foundation

The Board of Trustees of the City of Parma Andrew Boyko Memorial Scholarship Foundation, offers significant scholarships to many worthy young men and women as they further their post high school education. The next scholarships will be awarded in the Spring of 2010 as the Applicants commence their college education in the Fall of 2010.

The law office of Spangenberg Shibley & Liber is proud to announce we have been officially designated as CMBA Green Certified for 2010 - 2012. The attorneys and staff take great pride in this distinction and see it as one way of contributing to the GREEN Initiative.

The creation of the CMBA's Green Initiative and Green Initiative Committee (GIC) was first announced by 2008-09 President Michael E. Brittain at the 2008 CMBA Annual Meeting. The purpose of the GIC is to promote environmentally responsible programs ("green practices") for adoption by law firms, small law offices/solo practitioners, and the CMBA itself. The CMBA Green Initiative Committee will endeavor to promote its own suggested Green Practices to Cleveland firms in an effort to lessen the cumulative effects on the environment.
