Birth Control Pill YAZ® Yasmin® Side Effects WARNINGS!
YAZ® birth control pill has been associated with a number of blood clot related health risks. The widely-used oral contraceptive YAZ® (alternatively named Yasmin® ) has recently been targeted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a drug that is both dangerous and less effective than advertised. Consumers of YAZ®/Yasmin® have been known to suffer debilitating injuries, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), stroke, heart attack, and pulmonary embolism – and have even died.
FDA Mandates Yaz Labeling Update
On December 8th, 2011, the FDA mandated that Bayer Pharmaceuticals update their warning on Yaz labeling to adequately reflect the increased risks of blood clots in the legs and arms. The new warnings were prompted by an FDA study that showed women using Yaz were at a 75% greater risk of developing blood clots than patients using similar older drugs.
The Ohio Law Firm of Spangenberg, Shibley & Liber is alerting those who have experienced any YAZ® Yasmin® side effects and resulting injuries to know their rights and encourages injured parties to reach out to them for a free YAZ® legal consultations available nationwide.
FDA Notes Dangerous Side Effects of YAZ® Yasmin® Pills
In a letter admonishing Bayer about its misleading advertising, the FDA notes that the side effects of YAZ®/Yasmin® are more dangerous than those of other oral contraceptives because the drug contains drospirenone, a progestin that can elevate potassium levels in the blood. YAZ®/Yasmin® and its recently approved generic version is the only approved oral contraceptive to contain drospirenone.

Birth Control Pill YAZ® and Yasmin® May Increase Risk of Serious Injury Caused by Blood Clots
Drospirenone poses a problem to the body by increasing potassium levels, which in turn may create the metabolic condition known as hyperkalemia. Acute episodes of hyperkalemia are often triggered by medications unsettling the balance of potassium in cells, and may have life-threatening results. One such consequence is cardiac arrhythmia, a disturbance of the flow of blood through the heart, which may lead to the formation of blood clots. FDA records show that Since 2004 users of YAZ®/Yasmin® have experienced pulmonary embolism, stroke, heart attack and death.
